For many people, the idea of speaking and understanding a foreign language becomes a dream. When one learns to speak a second language, lots of new opportunities are opened, for example, you can meet new people, travel, start a business or if you already have a business, you can make it grow.

The dream of speaking a foreign language is, actually, a door to new and big opportunities. In this case, Spanish is a language which is spoken in a lot of countries in the world; a good example is South America where most countries have Spanish as national language.

Many people make to learn to speak Spanish a goal, to accomplish many different things in life; however, the truth is that this dream becomes frustrated by the bad results that schools and institutes give when teaching this language.

If people don’t see nice results when studying Spanish as a second language, they can think: “I’m terrible for languages”, “Spanish is just not for me”, or perhaps they just give up and forget about the dream of speaking Spanish.

Usually the only result that people get when they study Spanish in a school or institute is a bunch of information about tenses, verbs, nouns and an endless grammar rules package which the only thing that this stuff will do to you, the student, is to avoid you to become fluent when speaking Spanish.

The best way to learn to speak Spanish or any other foreign language is to do exactly what children do when they start to learn their mother language, and that is, LISTENING. That’s it, LISTENING is the key to learn to speak Spanish fluently, language must get into the brain in a natural way. I will be talking about this issue in future articles, but for now I just want to give you my first piece of advice to learn to speak Spanish, and this is to focus on listening to Spanish. Forget about all the grammar rules that you have learned in the past, forget about tenses, conjugations, conditionals, forget everything that made seem Spanish a complicated thing to learn.

Para muchas personas, la idea de hablar y entender un idioma extranjero se convierte en un sueño. Cuando se aprende a hablar un segundo idioma se abren muchas nuevas oportunidades, por ejemplo, conocer gente, viajar, empezar un negocio o incluso si ya tiene un negocio hacerlo crecer.

El sueño de hablar un idioma extranjero es, en realidad, la puerta a nuevas y grandes oportunidades, en este caso, el español es un idioma hablado en muchos países del mundo, un buen ejemplo de esto es el continente de américa latina, dónde la mayoría de los países tienen el español como idioma nacional.

Mucha gente se propone aprender a hablar español para diferentes metas en la vida, sin embargo, la verdad es que este sueño a veces se ve frustrado por los pobres resultados que las escuelas e institutos que ofrecen cuando enseñan este idioma.

Al no ver excelentes resultados cuando estudian español como segunda lengua, las personas pueden llegar a pensar: “Soy pésimo para los idiomas”, “El español simplemente no es para mí” o se dan por vencidos y dejan a un lado el sueño de hablar en español.

Generalmente el único resultado que se obtiene cuando se estudia en un instituto o una escuela de español es mucha información acerca de tiempos, verbos, pronombres y un sinfín de reglas gramaticales que al momento de hablar lo único que harán será evitar que usted, el estudiante sea fluido cuando hable en español.

La mejor forma de aprender a hablar en español o cualquier otro idioma extranjero es haciéndolo exactamente igual a como lo hacen los niños al momento de aprender a hablar su idioma nativo, y esto se hace ESCUCHANDO, así es, ESCUCHAR es la clave para aprender a hablar español fluidamente, el idioma debe entrar a su cerebro de una manera completamente natural. En futuros artículos de este blog, hablaré un poco más acerca de este tema, por ahora solo quiero dejar mi primer consejo para aprender a hablar en español, y este es concentrarse en escuchar español. Olvídese de todas las reglas gramaticales que haya aprendido en el pasado, olvide los tiempos, las conjugaciones, las condicionales, olvide todo lo que le hacía que el español era complicado.
